What is a DOI?
Answer
DOI stands for Digital Object Identifier and is a unique alphanumeric sequence assigned to a specific work. They are often displayed in references as a url starting with https://doi.org/.
Most modern journal articles and some academic books will have a DOI assigned to them. Older articles might also have a DOI assigned to them after publication, especially if they are important works in the field. Note that the catalog does not always display the DOI, even if the resource has one. If you want to search by DOI you can do so through LibKey. If you want to try to find a resource's DOI, you can search the title through CrossRef.
