What is an ORCID number?

Answer

Open Researcher and Contributor ID, or ORCID, is an identification number that you register for that can be used with your scholarly work. It is unique to you. This way your future scholarly work can be connected through your number, and anyone who is interested in your research can easily find it. This is helpful in case there are multiple researchers with names similar to you or if you decide to change your name and don't want to lose connection to your previous scholarly work. Learn more about ORCID and create your account on their website.
