Q. Why is loudness not monitored in the library
This is a place of study and it's so loud in hear I can't concentrate.
Answer
Hi there, the noise level really depends on the time of day. For example, if you are in the library before 2 pm there is much less conversation and group study occurring. Also, Fridays tend to be busier than others, so the noise level will be higher on Fridays. And of course right before class starts is always a busy time. The library does allow conversation at a comfortable level but we encourage study groups to use a focus or study room. However, sometimes those rooms are all booked and so some study groups may meet in the library. If the noise level is uncomfortable for you, please speak to library staff so that we can address the issue directly - we can also lend you a set of headphones to block out surrounding noise.
